Limited quantity renders this mint and rarely found item highly collectible.
Thunker sports a brown tunic with matching brown and gray plaid scarf. The elf doll carries a large log presumably used for 'thunking.' Matching tights and mittens keep him bundled up and warm during the cold winter months. Thunker looks dumbfounded as he strolls through the village with his payload.
Approximately 6 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide, the elf doll demonstrates excellence presence.
About Simpich Character Dolls:
In 1952, Bob and Jan Simpich wanted to give their parents something special for Christmas. However, store-bought gifts were pricey and did not capture the message of familial fidelity and love that the holidays are all about. So, Bob and Jan hand-crafted gorgeous figurines out of "found materials" that were not only treats for the eyes, but were also perfect symbols for the affection one feels for the people closest to them.
Soon, allured by the dolls' charm, many Simpich family members also dedicated themselves to crafting the majestic figurines. By 1978, the Simpich Character Doll Company had grown far too large for its cottage-studio and relocated to Old Colorado City where it prospered until Bob and Jan retired in 2006.
Today, the retired and no longer crafted Simpich Character Dolls continue to enchant all, both young and old. From mythical creatures to historical figures, these wonderful statuettes truly represent both our imaginative and sentimental side.
